For the first time in three years Cambridge’s popular Lunar New Year celebrations are set to return to The Atrium Hall, Netherhall school, Queen Edith’s way, Cambridge CB1 8NN to mark Year of the Rabbit.
Cambridge Chinese Community Centre is thrilled to bring Lunar New Year celebration back to Cambridge in 2023. Due to the pandemic the popular celebration could only be done online in the past three year. The atmosphere is different although online celebration has attracted thousands audience.
The 2023 New Year Festival Gala will come to us on Sunday the 22 January and celebrate the official first day of the Year of the Rabbit with performances, family activities, food stalls and much more.
The Celebrations always received strong and enthusiastic support from many Cambridge communities. The counties Lord Lieutenant, Cambridge MP, the Mayor of Cambridge, and Chinese Embassy personal, were among the invited guests. The event has attracted participations of thousands audience and well covered by both English and Chinese medias.
We are excited to build on the success of our previous celebrations by bringing an unforgettable Celebration Gala back to Cambridge. We can not wait to welcome in the Year of the Rabbit and celebrate with everyone.
The theme of the 2023 celebration is to promote harmony among the many communities in Cambridge and to bring together families and especially, children from different cultures and backgrounds.
This is one of the features we strive to feature in our annual Spring Festival celebrations every year. One previous Mayor of Cambridge commented that the event was: “absolutely brilliant”. He appreciated the idea of gathering different culture and background communities together very much, stating “What was great was they had other cultures performing too, it was quite exceptional and the place was buzzing. The beautiful dancing was the high point for me and the Lion Dance and traditional Unicorn were just exquisite.”
1. Calling for Programs
Cambridge has many talented individuals and our New Year Gala is designed to provide a platform for potential artists to demonstrate their talents. We are therefore recruiting various performers, for example; Singers Dancers or Dance Groups, Magicians, Play, Talk show, Instrumentalists, emcee etc. Any ideas or proposals are warmly welcome. We are looking forward to your participation so let us present a happy and peaceful Gala together.
This will be a great chance to shine in front of hundreds of Cambridge residents and invited guests. We are planning to present our audience with an unforgettable New Year Celebration Gala!

We also need many helpers to organise the event. Specifically we are looking for a Director, assistant director, program planners, co-ordinator, marketing, stage controller, lighting, sound effect, background etc.

2. Calling for sponsors
The annual Chinese New Year Gala celebration also provides a good opportunity for all businesses to get in touch with the large Cambridge Chinese population and to expand their reputation. Our annual event always receives a great response and generous donations from individuals and companies. As a non-profit making charity, in addition to volunteers; we need selfless contribution from our members and financial support from all sectors. To thank you for your generosity we make every effort to expand our sponsors’ reputation and promote their services. For instance, we can list our sponsors on our website and in our newsletter; organize product workshops and so forth. On the Gala day itself we will provide sponsors the opportunity to introduce and sell products themselves. We are currently calling for various levels of sponsorship, gold, silver or bronze sponsors, indeed any level of sponsorship.
