2019 Chinese New Year Celebration welcomes your participation

How time flies! The wonderful performance of “Four Seas in Spring” troupe in February this year is still fresh and vivid in our memory. The dazzling images are still flashing in our eyes and the strong festival flavour is still fragrant in our mind. And now the 2019 Chinese New Year’s footsteps are rapidly approaching!

Cambridge Chinese Community Centre invites you to celebrate this widely celebrated Chinese Traditional festival and share with us; the joy of this great festival. To greet the arrival of the Year of the Pig and spend an unforgettable Spring Festival together!

The Chinese New Year Celebrations are the most important and active festival celebrations among all the annual activities & performances. This Event always receives strong and enthusiastic support from many Cambridge communities. As in previous years the Mayor of Cambridge, the counties Lord Lieutenant, representing Her Majesty the Queen, and Chinese Embassy personal; will be among the invited guests who will join our party. Of course, there will also be many Cambridge residents and we expect another ‘full house’ again this year. The event will be covered by both English and Chinese media as activities in Cambridge attract international interest.

The 2019 New Year Festival Gala will come to us on Sunday the 27th January and this will be a great chance to shine in front of hundreds of Cambridge residents and invited guests. We are planning to present our audience with an unforgettable New Year Celebration Gala!

The theme of the 2019 celebration is to promote harmony among the many communities in Cambridge and to bring together families and especially, children from different cultures and backgrounds. This is one of the features we strive to feature in our annual Spring Festival celebrations every year.

One previous Mayor of Cambridge commented that the event was: “absolutely brilliant”. He appreciated the idea of gathering different culture and background communities together very much, stating “What was great was they had other cultures performing too, it was quite exceptional and the place was buzzing. The beautiful dancing was the high point for me and the Lion Dance and traditional Unicorn were just exquisite.”

1. Calling for Programs

Cambridge has many talented individuals and our New Year Gala is designed to provide a platform for potential artists to demonstrate their talents. We are therefore recruiting various performers, for example; Singers Dancers or Dance Groups, Magicians, Play, Talk show, Instrumentalists, emcee etc. Any ideas or proposals are warmly welcome. We are looking forward to your participation so let us present a happy and peaceful Gala together.

2. Calling for Volunteers

We also need many helpers to organise the event. Specifically we are looking for a Director, assistant director, program planners, co-ordinator, marketing, stage controller, lighting, sound effect, background etc.

The annual Chinese New Year Gala celebration also provides a good opportunity for all businesses to get in touch with the large Cambridge Chinese population and to expand their reputation. Our annual event always receives a great response and generous donations from individuals and companies. As a non-profit making charity, in addition to volunteers; we need selfless contribution from our members and financial support from all sectors. To thank you for your generosity we make every effort to expand our sponsors’ reputation and promote their services. For instance, we can list our sponsors on our website and in our newsletter; organize product workshops and so forth. On the Gala day itself we will provide sponsors the opportunity to introduce and sell products themselves. We are currently calling for various levels of sponsorship, gold, silver or bronze sponsors, indeed any level of sponsorship.
